The NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway took a wild turn in the final laps, with a massive crash that involved 28 cars and forced a red flag and changed the outcome for many contenders.
The chaos began when Brad Keselowski, driving the #6 car, gave Austin Cindric’s #2 car a hard push, sending the race leader spinning down the back straight. The mishap created a pile-up that scattered cars all over the track, taking out several drivers from contention.
Take a look at the NASCAR Crash:
Only a few cars escaped the carnage unscathed, including Shane van Gisbergen in the #16 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet Camaro. Though he got clipped by Erik Jones’ #43 Toyota Camry, van Gisbergen managed to navigate through the wreck. He then climbed from deep in the field to a top-10 position.
The race was halted with just five laps remaining for the cleanup of the NASCAR crash. It set up a high-stakes green-white-checkered finish. Despite the setbacks, the incident gave some drivers a surprising boost. While others saw their race hopes dashed in an instant.
