THK, a Japanese technology firm known for supplying the automotive industry, is set to debut its first fully functional electric vehicle, the LSR-05, at the Paris Auto Salon. Initially previewed at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, the LSR-05 is a testament to THK’s technological innovation, developed in collaboration with renowned designer Shiro Nakamura and SN DESIGN PLATFORM.
THK’s Growth and Global Influence
Founded in 1971 in Tokyo, THK first gained prominence for its linear motion technology and has since expanded its reach globally. The company now serves major industries, including automotive and machine tools, with a notable presence in Europe, such as its manufacturing facility in France.
“This is an extraordinary milestone for our company,” stated THK CEO Akihiro Teramachi. “For the first time, we will showcase our prototype vehicle outside of Japan, which makes this moment even more special.”

LSR-05: Luxury, Sportiness, and Revolution
The LSR-05 represents THK’s vision of the future, blending Luxury, Sportiness and Revolution into a sleek, four-seater crossover coupe. Measuring 4995 mm in length, 1965 mm in width, and 1530 mm in height, the vehicle exudes dynamic elegance.
Shiro Nakamura, CEO of SN DESIGN PLATFORM, emphasized the innovative nature of the vehicle:
“The LSR-05 showcases Japanese precision and innovation, particularly with its Stealth Seat-Slide system that offers a spacious and comfortable interior.”

Technologies
At the Paris Auto Salon, THK COO Takashi Teramachi will detail the advanced technologies integrated into the LSR-05. The car is powered by two rear 93 kW in-wheel motors and a 220 kW motor at the front, forming a four-wheel steering system. Its active suspension, MR fluid dampers, and electric brakes offer smooth handling and superior comfort.
The LSR-05 also features a contactless charging system, a key component of THK’s vision for the future of mobility. Using dynamic wireless power transfer, the system charges the vehicle more efficiently by lowering its height through the Active Level Control Suspension (ALCS).

THK’s Future Plans
Looking ahead, THK is already developing the next iteration, the LSR-07, set to be revealed at the Japan Mobility Show next year.
“The LSR-05 is just the beginning,” said Takashi Teramachi. “We are continuing to innovate and expand our electric vehicle technologies.”
Key Technologies Featured in the LSR-05:
- Stealth Seat-Slide System (SLES): Compact system for flexible seating adjustment.
- Variable Magnetic Flux In-Wheel Motor (enemo): Efficient motor offering high torque and speed.
- Active Level Control Suspension (ALCS): Vehicle height control for improved performance and charging.
- MR Fluid Active Damper Tube (MRDT): Electronically controlled suspension for vibration damping.
- Contactless Power Supply (CLPS): Wireless charging with increased efficiency.
- Electric Service Brake (ESB): Lightweight, electric-controlled braking system.
