Acura has unveiled a game-changer in its lineup with the announcement of the RSX, an all-electric SUV set to debut on a Honda-developed EV platform. The RSX takes its design cues from the Acura Performance EV Concept and will be the first EV to feature Honda’s cutting-edge ASIMO OS, introduced at CES 2025.
But that’s not all—this marks the launch of EV production at the new Honda EV Hub in Ohio, slated to begin later this year.
Homage to the Iconic Acura RSX (With a Futuristic Twist)
Acura enthusiasts might recognize the RSX nameplate as a nod to its sporty coupe heritage. However, the new RSX is anything but retro. Its sleek, coupe-like silhouette is wrapped in a striking camouflage created by Acura’s global design team. The design subtly evokes themes of light and power, highlighting the vehicle’s dynamic performance capabilities.
“The nameplate pays homage to the Acura RSX with its coupe-like silhouette, but it truly represents a forward-looking approach to fun-to-drive performance,” said Mike Langel, assistant vice president, Acura National Sales.
Real-world testing for the RSX prototypes kicks off this week, offering a glimpse of what’s to come for Acura’s electrified future.
Honda EV Hub in Ohio
Located in Ohio, the Honda EV Hub is at the forefront of vehicle manufacturing innovation. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to produce internal combustion, hybrid, and all-electric vehicles on a single production line. Significant upgrades are already underway, including the installation of six 6,000-ton high-pressure die-cast machines for megacasting—a revolutionary method to create larger and more efficient components for the RSX’s Intelligent Power Unit (IPU).
“We began production of Acura vehicles in America 30 years ago, so we are excited to make the Acura RSX the first EV we build at the Honda EV Hub,” said Mike Fischer, executive chief engineer and leader of Honda’s North American BEV Project.
This groundbreaking manufacturing approach emphasizes sustainability and efficiency, ensuring the highest quality for Acura’s next-gen EVs.
Acura’s Electrified Vision
Acura’s leap into the EV space with the RSX isn’t just about innovation. It’s about redefining performance for a new generation of drivers.
Alongside the RSX, Acura’s lineup will welcome the 2025 ADX this spring. It is a premium compact SUV with turbocharged performance that expands the brand’s appeal.
As the automotive world shifts toward sustainable mobility, Acura’s RSX embodies a bold vision. Expect to see it light up roads—literally and figuratively—soon.
