Carlos Sainz Wants One More Ferrari Win Before Joining Williams Next Year

Carlos Sainz

Carlos Sainz is determined to finish his time at Ferrari with one more win before joining Williams next season. The Spaniardโ€™s season highlight came at this year’s 2024 Australian Grand Prix, where he secured a victory just 16 days after undergoing surgery.

With Ferrari signing seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton for 2025, Sainz was left to find a new home and chose Williams, a team showing signs of improvement.

Before the switch, he has six races left, to add one last victory for the Scuderia. Could he achieve this?

Carlos Sainz: Focused on Ending Strong

โ€œItโ€™s at the top of my list to try and win at least once again with Ferrari before I leave. Itโ€™s in my head, not because Iโ€™m leaving at the end of the year with Ferrari, but because I always try to win every race that I go to. Letโ€™s see. At the same time, itโ€™s still one-third of the season left. Itโ€™s quite a lot actually when you think about it, and thereโ€™s three Sprints, plenty of the season left to go, so letโ€™s go race by race.โ€

Ferrariโ€™s 2024 season has been a rollercoaster, with Sainzโ€™s teammate, Charles Leclerc, taking two wins. Currently, the team sits third in the constructors’ standings, 75 points behind leader McLaren. Ferrari and second-placed Red Bull will need strong performances in the final races to close the gap.

Ferrariโ€™s Final Push for the Championship

Team boss Fred Vasseur expects most teams, including Ferrari, to bring upgrades to the upcoming race in Austin as they aim to close the gap to McLaren.

“I expect all the teams, including ourselves, will bring something new to Austin.”
