Ferrari, renowned for its unparalleled success in Formula 1 and its dominance in endurance racing, might soon expand its racing portfolio to include Formula E.
Recent statements from the CEO of Formula E hint at ongoing discussions with the iconic Italian team about joining the electric racing series.
Ferrari’s Electric Ambitions
Construction on Ferrari’s new ‘e-building’ began in 2022. With a budget of 500 million euros dedicated not only to the facility itself but also to supporting renewable energy projects and infrastructure improvements. This investment is expected to create up to 250 new jobs.
Since 2019, SK On has been providing battery cells for Ferrari’s hybrid road cars: SF90 Stradale and 296 GTB. While this collaboration was extended earlier this year, Ferrari plans to take a more hands-on approach to battery technology development. The company has announced that it will launch its first all-electric vehicle by the end of 2025.

Formula E CEO Hints at Discussions
Jeff Dodds, the CEO of Formula E, has been actively seeking to attract new manufacturers to the sport. In a recent interview with Motorsport.com, Dodds hinted at potential talks with Ferrari.
When asked directly if discussions had taken place, he responded with a tantalizing “Maybe,” leaving room for speculation.

Ferrari’s Current Focus
Despite the potential interest from Formula E, Ferrari remains committed to its current priorities. A spokesperson for the team stated:
“Our focus today is on F1 and endurance – and we have recently announced we will be taking the race where we never have before – water.”
This latter remark refers to Ferrari’s new sailing project, indicating that while the electric racing series is intriguing, it is not their immediate focus.
