Yuki Tsunoda rumored to leave RB for Haas in 2025

Yuki Tsunoda has consistently delivered outstanding performances for the Red Bull (RB) team, often outperforming his more experienced teammate Daniel Ricciardo. Despite his impressive track record, the 24-year-old Japanese driver has not been promoted within the Red Bull family, leading to speculation that he might be considering a move to the Haas F1 team.

Outperforming Teammates, Yet Overlooked

In recent seasons, Tsunoda has repeatedly demonstrated his skill and determination. During the 2023 season, he faced numerous challenges but still managed to score significant points for the team.

In the 2024 season, Tsunoda has outperformed his Ricciardo. Despite these achievements, Red Bull has not offered him a promotion, leaving Tsunoda to weigh his options.

Considering a Future with Haas

With his prospects within Red Bull appearing limited, Tsunoda is rumored to be eyeing a move to the Haas F1 team for the next season.

Although Haas has not matched Red Bull’s results, Tsunoda believes he may have better opportunities with the American constructor. According to Chris Medland, the main reason behind this potential switch is the perceived lack of future advancement within the Red Bull team.

Opportunity for Liam Lawson

If Tsunoda leaves, it could open the door for Liam Lawson to join RB. The New Zealand driver, who made a short but impressive debut in 2023, was initially expected to drive for the team in 2024. However, Daniel Ricciardo was chosen over the 22-year-old Kiwi driver.

Should Tsunoda depart, Lawson could easily fill the vacant seat.

Lawson has already impressed the Red Bull team during simulator work at the Imola weekend, earning praise from the Faenza-based team. His potential full-time entry could lead to further success for Red Bull under his promising talent.

Tsunoda’s Future Hinges on Red Bull’s Decision

Yuki Tsunoda’s current performance levels make him a strong candidate for a seat at Haas. However, the final decision rests with Red Bull and their willingness to retain the Japanese driver. Tsunoda has proven his capability by consistently outperforming his teammates and showing a strong desire to improve. The coming months will reveal how his contractual situation unfolds in the competitive world of Formula 1.
