Ferrari’s 2024 car gets faster by 0.7 Seconds with clever weight cut

Recent reports suggest that the iconic Scuderia Ferrari has not only gained 9% more downforce and a pace boost of over half a second but has also successfully trimmed down the weight of their racing challenger.

Additionally, the promising results obtained from wind tunnel data and simulator tests for 2024 are so positive that individuals at Maranello are forbidden from making comparisons between the 676 and the SF23.

In a groundbreaking move, Ferrari has hit the weight limit sweet spot, making their 2024 F1 car a whopping 6kg lighter than the minimum weight limit set by the FIA at 798kg.

This marks a historic moment, as it’s the first time under the new regulations since 2022 that Ferrari has managed to keep their car below the mandated weight.

How did they achieve this feat?

The team at Ferrari revamped the gearbox, making it narrower to accommodate a larger diffuser. These strategic changes, coupled with modifications in the hybrid system, not only make the car faster but also address one of Ferrari’s historical challenges: tire degradation.

Ferrari has grappled with tire degradation issues in recent F1 seasons, impacting their race strategies. However, with the 2024 car shedding excess weight, the Pirelli tires are expected to degrade less, providing a substantial boost to the overall pace of the car.

This move is poised to help Ferrari overcome a significant weakness and revitalize their competitive edge.

2024 outlook: Momentum and victory in sight

Ferrari’s strong performance in the final races has set the stage for an exciting 2024 season. With the momentum in their favor and the 2024 F1 challenger’s innovative enhancements, victory may be within Ferrari’s grasp. While tire degradation remains an area for improvement, the lighter car hints at promising results on the horizon.
